The below quoted content is a guest post from “True Playa”. He commented on my original post about the Human Trainerand cleared up some of the things that I wasn’t able to get a real knowledge of since I don’t actually have one of these suspension trainers. I asked him if he would submit a guest post that gives a first hand review of the Human Trainer.
“The Human Trainer is a dual anchor suspension gym which means you can avoid unnecessary rubbing on your your shoulders and neck which happens with single anchor systems (e.g. TRX). Dual anchors means the straps are coming from the “sides” instead of the “top”. Dual anchors also mean you can perform wider grip exercises, more natural exercises, and additional exercises.
In addition to dual anchors, the HT clipping system allows for multiple accessories including your own accessories like a tricep rope.
The ceiling mounts are sleek, small and white so they don’t stick out like a sore thumb in your ceiling or door. Plus, they’ve made it small enough that it actually fits in your door frame. And let’s face it, anyone with any suspension gym knows that using it with the door hooks in a closed door is limiting since you can’t reach deep angles. A closed door workout is ok if you’re in a pinch but it’s really not even close to as good of a workout. Both products offer the door hooks if you are in a pinch.
The HT multiple clip system means you can literally have more than 1 handle or accessory attached at a time. So you can go from deep pushups into chinups into dips without having to adjust the product. And with respect to dips and chin-ups for example those are 2 exercises that can’t even be done on the TRX because of it’s lack in design.
I recently heard someone complain that they don’t like the HT because it’s got too many pieces and too much clipping. But this doesn’t actually make sense because you never have to clip anything if you don’t want to. You can always just keep it all connected. In fact, if you want to you can even clip it together and use it all as 1 piece just like a TRX. Someone might want to do this in a pinch if for example you only have 1 anchor point on a tree or something. Another option is if you have an overhead beam that is too high for 1 extension anchor, you can always put both HT extension anchors together and create a single anchor workout. So HT allows the option for a single anchor workout but whenever you have the proper location, a dual anchor hook up is superior.
I think the difference between the foot cradles is a small issue but some people do find that the combination grip of the TRX creates a lot of pressure on the foot and means you’re constantly putting your dirty feet all over your handles. I guess they have a point but I don’t think this is such a big deal.
Ultimately they are both basically the same product in principal. But as with the next generation of anything, the Human Trainer offers a lot more versatility and options.”
